Girl Behind the Blog
Introducing, the Daydreamer.
Hello, world! In my first post I’m going to tell you a little bit about myself. You can call me Marian and I was born and raised in the Philippines. I’m a Registered Nurse by profession and currently lives in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. For those of you who don’t know where the UAE is, it’s a gulf country in the middle east and is known for having the tallest building in the world. Yes, that would be the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, an emirate of this very generous country. I’ve been living here for three years, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Although the weather could be a letdown at times, this country has surprised me with lots of adventures over the years.
Work can sometimes be a drag and so on my days off I try to be productive as much as I can. I keep myself entertained with chic lit/YA books, movies and Netflix, occasional attempts at lettering and typography and my constant pursuit of locating new cafes and foodie hunts in the city. Of course there would always be the struggle of reinventing my blog for the nth time but that’s just it. Maybe I haven’t found my voice yet. I’ve played with different themes all throughout my blogging years yet nothing really stuck around for a long time.
On the other hand, I’ve discovered a newfound love which I guess has always been in me all along – travelling. The quest for adventure in foreign cities, and the chance of seeing and being in places which I’ve only read in books or have seen in movies growing up, well, that’s my kind of “high” right there. I’m not the typical backpacker or traveler per se. I’m not someone who leaves behind the life they were used to in exchange with immersing in an entirely different culture. I’m no professional nomad so let’s just say I’m more of a a tourist [with a purpose].
As you can tell, I’m quite the dreamer too, so this blog’s gonna be about my adventures of making those dreams into reality.
